Residents receive their high school education through the Manos House Private Academic School. This school is licensed by the Pennsylvania Department of Education. Students attend classes daily throughout the entire year. All teachers are state certified in their subject area and class sizes are small so individualized attention can be provided to students which includes individual tutoring and remedial reading. Emphasis is placed on teaching basic skills. Another goal is to teach residents how to become good students.
By learning effective study habits, by taking responsibility for their schoolwork and by being respectful to the teacher and fellow students, residents have a greater opportunity to succeed when they return to their own school.  We focus on providing an educational bridge to link students' past academic achievements with a transition plan for their successful reintegration back to their home school by operating a 12 month academic program, which offers students additional credit recovery opportunities.  Students advanced in their educational journey can attain their high school diploma through Manos House Private Academic School.  As an alternative to our traditional high school completion program, we offer a GED preparation track, which affords some students the opportunity to prepare for, and attain, a GED prior to completing the program.
